An in-line wire strainer or ratchet as they are sometimes called are your tensioning devices on your fence. They are what keep your fence tight and allow you to re-tension the wire should the need arise. This type of tensioner is called in-line because you cut the wire to install it in the middle of the line of fence. Two styles are available an SAS Kiwi In-Line Strainer with Spring Clip and an SAT Kiwi In-line Strainer without spring clip. These strainers are the original Kiwi strainers. You use 1 in-line wire strainer on every wire. They are sold 50 per box. An in-line wire strainer will keep 4000’ of high tensile wire tight. You tighten the in-line using a ratchet handle (TFH). For every end, turn or stop decrease the footage by 500’. So that means if you are building a 6 wire high tensile fence you may need more than 6 strainers in your fence. The placement of the in-line wire strainers depends on the configuration of your fence. Should you need help in knowing where to install your in-line wire strainer contact us for assistance. Both the SAS and SAT are USA made and have a galvanized strap with zinc spool, cog or reel. There are a variety of in-line strainers on the market at a wide range of prices.
